A message from Kaithlin

Bonjour mes amies,
I hope you have not only enjoyed our new guests this past week but that through them you have gained a new perspective regarding their topics. Our last guest, the Warlock Gregory, was an added bonus, as he put in a surprise appearance. As you know, Gregory has been mentioned in several of our e-mail posts. He works, tirelessly, for he is dedicated to the cause closest and dearest to his heart; the protection of children. I would like to tell you more about him and then I will post answers to your e-mails.

Since they are at the top of the food chain in the Witch's hierarchy, so to speak, Warlocks were generally known to be arrogant, self-serving, unapproachable individuals. But with the changing of times some (certainly not all) have taken a new approach to life. Gregory is one of the pioneers among his Kind who recognized that the image created and advanced by Warlocks through time was hindering the continuation of an entire society, and acceptance of Witches as a whole. He had the foresight to recognize that certain of the old ways no longer served modern Witches and he and others in agreement with him began the uphill struggle to change their image and their ways for the good of their people.

Their decision to change created a severe division among Warlocks the world over; a division that led to other changes; some foreseen, others unforeseen. Sorceresses were the Warlock's female counterpart and it has always been known that they were deadly enemies who would not tolerate one another. But as Gregory and his allies pushed for change the unbelievable took place. Warlocks and Sorceresses came together in heretofore unlikely alliances on both sides of the issue. In doing so, the Hieracrchy of Witches split into two factions; the old and the new.

We now have the once unbelievable hapstance of Warlocks and Sorceresses not only working hand in hand but some of them, like Gregory and the Sorceress JoHaunna, have become spouses. So now we have two exceptional power bases that has so upset the balance among Witches that the pendulum is in continuous motion. Covens are in chaos so that one can ever be sure with whom their allegiance truly lies. Some members of Covens are plants from other Covens; those cleaving to the old ways, and vice-versa, which has caused great stress among our Kind. But Gregory believes that we must, perforce, endure the stress and chaos in order to succeed in our mission. And so it continues...

Major battles are being fought and while we all must always be on our guard, those of us on the side of what is right and just believe that things will eventually come right. We know and accept that always there will be two factions; those who hold to the path of darkness and those of us who hold to the path of light but that is as will be. But with change also comes good and we are seeing that with the dawn of each new day. With Warlocks and Sorceresses like Gregory and JoHaunna, and their allies, at the helm of particular Covens the new Witch's hierarchy provides for fairness, stability, compassion, and care between leaders and followers while the same cannot be said of those cleaving to the old hierarchy.

Gregory is a natural leader with a strong sense of perception for what needs doing to achieve success; prevent the demise of our society. As a master of his Kind the knowledge he's garnered and the skills he's perfected over time lend themselves to his considerable inherent abilities which only very few Warlocks can lay claim to. With all that he does for his own it is near impossible to fathom how he finds the time and the desire to lend his services to Outsiders. But as children are most special to him, he somehow finds the time and the will when the need arises, as it most often does.

His entire family is behind him and, singly and collectively, they are something of a rare breed. Each of them are inherently powerful and skilled and some of them possess dual natures i. e. one is Warlock and he is also a Healer. Having dual natures isn't unprecedented but is rare and it is more rare that an entire set of offspring rise to their level in one family. And those rarities create enormous misgivings in Witch's society for they are wary of so much power concentrated in one family. So you can see what the family is up against and for those many reasons Gregory and his family are unable to completely trust to even their allies.

I have told you about their circumstances so that you, as Outsiders, might understand that wealth and power are no guarantees that any Witch can lead a normal life, as you know it. Secrecy is a necessity, as is being on guard at all times in their daily lives. And when those Witches are Warlocks and Sorceresses they wear targets on their backs for those who would, for any reason that comes to mind, destroy them. Personal safety is a perpetual burden whether one cleaves to the old ways or the new, and it falls to our leaders to walk the fine line in the interest of their own.

While safety is always an issue don't think that we are unable to enjoy life. We enjoy it when we can but we take nothing for granted, and give thanks for each day. People like Gregory and his family help make our way easier, for which we give them our loyalty and respect, and in turn take care not to squander what their efforts have made possible.

I admit I am partial to Gregory and I would like to tell you why. 'Twas a time not many years ago that I was a rebellious teenager and I thought I could make my own way in the Outsider's world. I was fed up with the way my life was unfolding; tired of having to always be on guard not to give away that I was a Witch (aye, I am); and jealous of the uninhibited life style of the Outsider. I wanted the freedom to just be a teenager and to my parents' horror I denounced my heritage in a fit of pique and began running with the wrong crowd. Nothing they said or did would change my mind. I was sixteen when I fell for the charms of a boy I went to school with and little did I know that he was luring me further away from my parents and into a dark place.

My parents weren't members of a Coven but they'd heard of Gregory and they contacted him for advice on how to deal with me. In his infinite kindness he traveled a long distance to come and assist my parents. By then I was well into trouble, for I'd run away from my home in New Jersey to the big city of New Orleans. I later learned my boyfriend was also a Witch whose parents were killed by a Warlock who practiced Black Majic, and from whom he couldn't escape. Needless to say, we were both in grave danger with no one to help us. Thankfully, Gregory was from that area and he returned there to look for me.

Long story made short, he traced my whereabouts and I will never, as long as I live, forget the battle that ensued between two Warlocks. Gregory saved two teenagers lives that night and he took us home with him where we remained for almost two months. In that two months he and his family mentored us and taught us that life was not to be squandered for selfish reasons. He found a loving home with friends of his for the boy, who is now one of my dearest friends, and returned me to my loving parents. I finished school and with my parents blessings and financial assistance from Gregory after I lost them in a car accident, I went on to further my education in New Orleans. I am where I am today and most happy to be who I am because of the kindness of a man who cares for his own, and for children.

I met Dream Teller through Gregory and now you know why I do what I do; work to further the understanding and acceptance of not only Witches, but all Kinds. So you see, Witches encounter many of the same problems as Outsiders. Otherwise, we are people working at living our lives to the best of our abilities and thanful for all that we are blessed with. I'm glad that you got to meet Gregory via this forum, for he enriches the lives of all, however he touches them. And now, on to the day's business. The answers to your e-mails are courtesy of the Warlock Gregory in Dream Teller's absence.

To Heather in Georgia: Aye, 'tis true. Beware young lady, for no Warlock worth his salt would make such an offer. I assure you he cannot fulfill that offer so if he is, in fact, a Warlock he is not after your best interests. There is danger in trusting to one who demands your complete loyalty on the face of a few short weeks acquaintance, and I would entreat you to hold off until I can discover his background and his true intentions. I will personally contact you with my findings.

To Jeanette in Washington: Dream Teller is what is known to us as an old soul, meaning she has experienced many lifetimes. She is friend to many Kinds, for which I am pleased to be numbered among those friends. She gives of herself and her time without expecting anything in return and, as you well know, the likes of such a person are few and far between. It is not my place to divulge who she is nor where she hails from but I will tell you that if you are blessed to know her, you have met an exceptional individual. Accept her as Dream Teller and mayhap one of these days she will feel comfortable releasing more information about herself. But, like the rest of us who do what we do, one must always take care with exposing one's self to the public for there are those looking to harm anyone who has to do with things outside the realm of what is considered 'normal'.

To Tanzie in Louisiana: Other Kinds are all around you, in every walk of life.'Tis not unusual for Immortals to enjoy wealth, as they have many ways of attaining financial stability. Some amass their wealth over time, others acquire it through their extraordinary abilities, and then of course you have those who simply take what they want. However they achieve their wealthy status, those who care for the human race are the ones who generously share with others in a number of selfless ways. Some Mortals with extraordinary abilities are also known to give financial assistance where it is most needed.

To Craig in California: I have no idea when Dream Teller's book is set for release but I have read portions of the manuscript, and I am looking forward to reading the entire book. I cannot deny that I was somewhat against the idea of someone writing books that include me and my family but when I discovered how well she was able to portray her characters, without giving away too much information about them, I gave her my blessing to write our story.

To Darren in Michigan: Your activities are demonstrative of a lunatic. It is people like you whom we give no quarter and feel no remorse for what we do to protect ourselves. In your lack of wisdom you have given me all the information I need to find and deal with you. Your sort always give yourselves away at some point, for your stupidity far advances your intelligence. Consider that I have given you advance warning.

To Chelsea in Alabama: Go home and grow up little girl. If your life sucks, as you say, then do something to change it rather than whining and complaining. We all have at our fingertips the power to control certain things in our lives. It is not anyone else's fault that you get bad grades in school but yours. Study harder, and put school ahead of your selfish desires to experience life first. One has to work for what one desires, for little in this life is given us.

Blessed Be, Gregory.
