E-mail

Bonjour mes amies. Since we haven't gotten to around to answering any e-mails in the last couple of weeks that is the order of today. We've had so many interesting ones it was difficult to narrow them down to those we have space for this week. Have patience and if you don't see yours mayhap one of our choice will hold the answer you're looking for.

To Jason in Mississippi: 'The Arts' is a broad term for various things of an occult nature such as supernatural phenomena, or otherworldly influence. Thus you have practices of Black Majic, White Majic, Numerology, Astrology, Santeria, Voo-Doo, and so on. Aye, and the practicioners are as varied as the Arts which are closely related to heritage and race. An example is the country of Haiti where Voo-Doo has its roots and which has spread throughout the world. New Orleans is home to many priests and priestesses who are practicioners of that particular Art. Many of the Arts (example: Santeria) have beginnings in Catholicism, or ties to other Christian religions, so it is not uncommon for some Catholic Hispanics to practice both the Art and the religion. All of the Arts are practiced to some extent in every part of the world whether the origins are rooted in a particular country, or have found a host country through some means.

To Marion in Florida: Mayhap it would behoove you to to learn the meaning of the word 'blasphemy' before you open your mouth and spout your ignorance. Accusing the Christian members of our Council of Alliances of such is not only ignorant, it goes to the root of your lack of Christian tolerance. When I gave examples of the various faiths of our members neither did I say nor intimate that any of them held sway with, or practiced Paganism. What we, as a Council, practice is tolerance. So, no the Catholic Bishop is not a blasphemer for he does not speak irreverently or impiously of anything sacred in his faith, or any other. Your claim that you hold Catholic values while you accuse another Catholic of the lack of such values; particularly one of high standing in that faith, is exactly what identifies you and others like you as religious zealots; (in case the definition of that word escapes your small mind) fanatics. Mayhap it would (though probably not) interest you to know that it is from each other that we learn of differing faiths. The Bishop is a fine example of a practicing Catholic, as well as an intelligent man able to open himself to learning, accepting, and offering tolerance to those not of his faith. His message to you after reading your venomous e-mail: "God doesn't condone your ignorance or your lack of tolerance. I suggest you take refuge in the Bible where our Lord teaches that one doesn't judge lest he be judged, accordingly, and let he without sin cast the first stone. I will pray for your soul and suggest that you do the same."

To Rebecca in Delaware: Referring to sub-types within a Kind is merely a means of distinguishing the differences within one Kind or another. Though there are scientific sorts of each Kind who work as human scientists and geneticists do to map types and sub-types, we don't concern ourselves with those matters. What concerns us is showing evidence that not all of one Kind are alike, or responsible for the acts of others of their Kind. A good example is the Vampyre. We know for fact that much of their history (but not all) is rooted in myth since we have among us Vampyres who do not go about tearing out throats and draining their prey of blood. They are civilized, contributing members of society. Aye, and there are those such as the creature of myth so we separate them as sub-types. Nothing particularly scientific about that. They hail from every corner of the globe; both those made, and those born. The same is true of the Werewolf. Neither do we get into the specifics of a particular word, such as 'species', thus our use of the word 'Kind'. So, you see there is nothing overly scientific, or dark and sinister, about our descriptive terms.

To Drake in Conneticut: As the saying goes; 'What you sew, so shall you reap'. Using your HIV positive status as a weapon with which to punish others for your condition is a sad state of affairs. Sadder still I (if it were not so outlandish) is your claim that you caught the disease from a Vampyre so you are giving it back to everyone of them you come in contact with. Sorry dear, but Vampyres thus far are immune to human diseases. You would best serve yourself by getting yourself into treatment, both medical and psychological, because what you have described to me is a din of iniquity where wanna-be Vampyres hang out. Consumption of hard core drugs of that nature and copious amounts of alcohol, not being 'tranced', is what made you vulnerable to whatever sort of attack you came under. That you say you cannot remember all that took place indicates you are reaching for a way to excuse your own actions and place the blame at the feet of others. Worse, having unprotected sex will only add to your misery when you are caught (and you will be since you are spreading your DNA around) and sent to prison. If you have any trace of humanity left about you then do the right thing. That you have given me no means of tracing you, yet dare me to turn you in to the authorities, leaves me wondering if you have not devised a cruel little game to wile away your time. Remember my opening statement and if you do not have that disease, let us hope it does not find you.

To Caro in Louisiana: As I have stated here before, I do not post our guests real names for purposes of safety (theirs). I take the author's license when identifying them by name but I never trifle with their place of residence, Kind, or degree of ability. Thus the names I choose are in direct relation to their heritage and origins. Aye, and I am something of a romantic, so I choose names I feel best suit their physical characteristics. Not all of them agree with my choices but some do allow that I pander to their egos in the nicest of ways.

To Charlotte in Maryland: Down girl. I tend to agree that certain of our Warlocks are certainly the stuff of romantic dreams but be that as it may, what they do here is not about romance. You understand that I have to decline your request. I realize that I tend to put a romantic spin on identifying their physical characteristics, and that comes of being an author. However, I do not change or make up those characteristics, nor do I pass along romantic requests to them. Believe me when I tell you these gentleman have no need for for me to intervene on their behalf, as they are quite capable of handling their own private lives. Sorry dear, you will have to find your own Warlock.

Ponder, and Blessed May You Be, Dream Teller.
