The Shape of Things to come...

Bonjour mes amies.

'Tis been a busy week here at the Lair. I hope your week was productive and that each of you realized all you meant to achieve. Dream Teller is presently out of town attending a conference with the Council of Allies. The Council has been working on setting a new agenda. Following the havoc during and since the hurricanes (has it really been five months past?), 'tis a major task they face, for many of them are also in the process of recouping. But evil takes no rest, regardless of fine or foul weather, and the scope of danger to innocent victims, as well as our own, has grown disproportionately.

The scales are balanced on the dark side and must be tipped toward the light, else all we fight for will be lost. Some of you e-mail us and wonder why we even bother to fight what often appears a daunting, no-win situation. 'Tis the Way of It with our Kind; the ever on going defense of all that is right and good. To leave evil to wander the earth without challenge is to give up and allow our beautiful earth to fall to ruin, and her peoples to become no more than frightened, hunted animals. Just as Outsiders fight for justice of the known, 'tis our lot to fight the unknown; all for the same reasons.

During these times many scoff at the very idea that modern society could be set back in such a way as to become anything remotely like darker times when evil ruled the world. 'Tis no' such a far-fetched possibility since, more and more, evil doers of all Kinds continue to grown in numbers. Their safety lies in the very thing that protected many of them down through the ages; disbelief, in their existence. But they do exist and they are far more powerful than even the greatest Master of any Kind could formerly have ever imagined. Unlike days of yore, modern technology has done more than bring comfort and ease to society. It has given our foes a wicked weapon with which to move about, freely. Think about it. Rather than expend energy roaming the earth looking for their needs, they merely have the world at their fingertips. The computer keyboard, the world-wide web, and a host of information. To one who is already a master-mind....

True, as many of you have let us in on your thoughts, 'tis a right hilarious vision when one imagines a rogue Vampyre, Sorcerer, or Werewolf sitting at a computer. But only if you are a non-believer in their existence. For those of us who know the truth, 'tis no' funny at all. 'Tis a most frightening reality. Modern technology in the hands of fiends is tantamount to every person the world over having access to the button to launch the nuclear bomb. And nay, I am no' blowing things out of proportion. 'Tis just that insane; the reality. And that, mes amies, is why we do what we do. Fair day to all, Kaithlin.

And now to post Dream Teller's answers to some e-mail.

To Terza in Delaware: I expect my novel to go to the publishers the first of the coming week. 'Tis been long in the making and time to move forward with the process. I thank you for your interest and will keep interested visitors posted as things move along. Blessed May You Be.

To Cindy in Georgia: 'Tis no' the subject of your interest which baffles me but the reasons for the interest. I will only advise you to think long and hard before you take such a life changing step, for once taken, it can no' be undone. While the unknown holds much appeal for those bored with their own existence, 'tis a powerful evil couched in even the most seemingly harmless majic. There will always be those willing to lead you astray, in ways you have no' ever dreamed possible. Do as you will, for 'tis your choice, alone, to make. Blessed May You Be.

To Boyd in S. Carolina: Majic is.... Many still hold the view that 'tis no more than 'hocus-pocus' and therein lies the problem for non-believers. The problem being that non-believers make perfect targets for those with majical abilities who mean them harm. Some non-believers (like you and your buddies) up the ante (danger to themselves) by taunting, daring, and scoffing. Those with majical abilities are proud of their gifts and no' even the gentlest majic-maker will tolerate such behavior. But, 'tis the evil-doer of whom one must take care no' to cross. Here is a thought for you. Why do you suppose he has made the four of you aware of him? It appears you and your friends have crossed paths with one whom you have no business taunting. I have no way of knowing whether or no' he is of dark or light majic, but I can tell you whichever he chooses to unleash upon you will teach you one of two things, the lesson you deserve or the alternative; one you brought upon yourselves, from which there is no salvation.

To Erika in France: Bonjour. Pas de quoi (You are welcome). I am pleased that all has come right for you in the end. 'Tis rare that one escapes such a threat but your clear-thinking is, according to Garth, what tipped the scales in your favor. Aye, and even though you did no' notice him, he was there and he has nothing but good things to say about you. Continue on your path for 'tis certain good things are in your future. Blessed May You Be.

To Ron in Texas: Non, you are mistaken. 'Twas no' one of ours who approached you, for we do no' operate in that manner. Either she is having you on, or... well, the obvious, non? Take care and Blessed May You Be.

To Kim in Arkansas: Aye, and most of our visitors do hail from the southern states. 'Tis the deep south where many a legend was born and where their ancestors continue on. There is much majic shimmering about the south (no' to say it does no' exist in the upper states) and 'tis what draws many a majic-maker from other areas. Since my roots are in the South, I do tend to lean toward the goings-on, here. However, I mean no slight to the other states, for there is much in the way of Majic, Majic-Makers, and history abounds there, too. Blessed May You Be.

To Loren in New York: Nay, I do no' condone nor give space to such negativism. Were I more the vindictive type, such a dare would cost you greatly, young woman, But as I am no' the type, I will leave you with this: Take care what you dare for there is always one willing to take you up, and more the fool; you.
